Lesão Cervical não cariosa: uma abordagem clínica e terapêutica / Non-carious cervical injury: a clinical and therapeutic approach

As lesões cervicais não-cariosas (LCNCs) são problemas frequentes nos consultórios odontológicos. Possuem etiologia multifatorial e se caracterizam pela perda de esmalte na região cervical dos dentes, causando deficiência tanto funcional, quanto estética. Como consequência dessas lesões, existe a hipersensibilidade dentária, causada pela presença de fluídos no interior dos túbulos dentinários que atingem as terminações nervosas. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desta revisão de literatura foi realizar uma abordagem acerca das LCNCs, evidenciando os fatores etiológicos, suas consequências e a importância do correto diagnóstico e remoção do agente causador para a realização dos diferentes métodos de tratamentos. Diante dessa realidade, o tratamento varia de acordo com o diagnóstico do aparecimento dessas lesões, sejam elas causadas por fatores intrínsecos ou extrínsecos ou a união de ambos. Sendo de fundamental importância o controle dos mesmos para o sucesso do tratamento e uma maior longevidade das estruturas dentárias.

Non-Carious Cervical Injuries (NCCIs) are frequent problems in dental offices. They have a multifactorial etiology and are characterized by the loss of enamel in the cervical region of the teeth, causing both functional and aesthetic deficiencies. Because of these injuries, there is tooth hypersensitivity, caused by the presence of fluids inside the dentinal tubules that reach nerve endings. In this sense, the objective of this literature review was to conduct an approach about NCCI, highlighting the etiological factors, their consequences and the importance of the correct diagnosis and removal of the causative agent for the realization of the different treatment methods. In view of this reality, treatment varies according to the diagnosis of the appearance of these lesions, whether they are caused by intrinsic or extrinsic factors or the union of both. Being of fundamental importance the control of the same for the success of the treatment and a greater longevity of the dental structures.

A influência da aparência na escolha do cirurgião-dentista / The influence of appearance on the choice of dental surgeon

Introdução: Atualmente, há uma exigência maior de padrões estéticos quando se trata de Cirurgiões-Dentistas, fazendo com que diversos fatores sejam considerados na escolha de um profissional. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a percepção dos universitários em relação à imagem do Cirurgião-Dentista, o impacto dessa aparência na escolha do profissional e a confiança atribuída a ele. Métodos: Após aprovação do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos, a avaliação foi feita por meio de um questionário composto por 10 perguntas acerca da aparência do Cirurgião-Dentista. O entrevistado avaliou o grau de importância dos quesitos, atribuindo uma nota de 0 a 10, sendo 0 considerado péssimo e 10 considerado excelente. Utilizou-se procedimentos da estatística descritiva para expressar os resultados como média, mediana, desvio padrão (DP), amplitude interquartil (AIQ) e frequências (relativa e absoluta). O nível de significância adotado foi 5% (p-valor < 0,05). Resultados: De acordo com a percepção dos estudantes, o tempo de formado e o perfil profissional em rede social influenciam na escolha do profissional enquanto o uso de piercings é um aspecto que contribui para uma percepção mais negativa do profissional. Conclusão: A aparência do Cirurgião-Dentista é um aspecto muito importante que é utilizado por universitários na escolha do profissional.

Introduction: Currently, there is a greater demand for aesthetic standards regarding dental surgeons, which include several factors to be considered when choosing a professional. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the perception of undergraduate students concerning the image of the Dental Surgeons and the impact of their appearance on the choice of the professional and the confidence attributed to them. Methods: After approval by the Ethics Committee on Research with Human Beings, the assessment was conducted through a questionnaire composed of 10 questions about the appearance of the Dental Surgeons. The interviewee assessed the degree of importance of the items, assigning a score from 0 to 10, 0 being considered terrible, and 10 excellent. Descriptive statistics procedures were used to express the results such as mean, median, standard deviation (SD), interquartile range (AIQ), and frequencies (relative and absolute). The significance level adopted was 5% (p-value 0,5) Results: According to the students' perception, the time since graduation and the professional profile in the social media influence in the choice of the professional while using piercings is an aspect that contributes to a more negative perception of the professional. Conclusion: The appearance of the Dental Surgeon is a very important aspect used by undergraduate students to choose a professional.

The importance of immunological findings in the identification of head and neck pathological changes: A literature review

Introduction: Radiography serve as an aid for professional and is a primary factor in obtaining more accurate diagnoses, as well as immunological findings diagnosing diseases early. Objective: Given the importance of these tests, this paper aims to analyze the importance of imaging findings in the identification of pathological changes of the head and neck. Methodology: For this, a literature review based on literature by consulting the scientific articles selected by searching the PubMed database was performed, Lilacs and Bireme, besides the assets of the College Northeast Independent Library. Being selected 26 articles, of the last 15 years that had relation with the subject approached. Discussion: Dentists should have an overview of the maxillofacial structures, and to identify changes not directly related to dentistry, which further enhances its utility and indication for other operating areas. Conclusion: This professional has the ability to identify changes to the head-neck complex views on radiographs and the duty to refer these patients to a specific medical treatment preventing possible complications.
